Five plaintiffs seeking compensatory damages in three different federal lawsuits have filed the motion to consolidate all the federal Lipitor injury lawsuits, online sources say. The motion for a Lipitor multidistrict litigation action was petitioned in the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation at the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, according court news reports. Multiple parties with similar claims against Pfizer are able to avoid duplicating information and discoveries making the proceedings to be more efficient.
The pre-trial procedures may allow the both parties to unearth evidences through exchanging of documentations. However, each of the cases will be tried separately for the proper compensation to
be given for each of the plaintiff in the Lipitor MDL against Pfizer. The request for consolidation argued that the plaintiffs have common questions and regarding the awareness of the manufacturer of the increased risk for diabetes among men and women taking Lipitor.
